Newly set up collection of 38 polychrome wood-carvings, restored for the exhibition of Baroque sculptures made by Josef Jiri Jelinek and shown recently at the Walenstein Riding School presents remarkable family studio in Kosmonosy. Small Hall:
Zofia Kulik - Body of Structure. Exhibition, organized in cooperation with the Prague House of Photography, is the first event to open the entrance hall of the Veletrzni Palace for the presentation of a contemporary art. Prints of the conceptual artist Zofia Kulik, which represented Poland on Venice biennale last year, is a part of this year's Fotofest. Until 19 July.

1st floor:
Changes in the Czech Landscape Paintings of the 20th Century. Exhibition shows fundamental Czech landscape paintings from the museum collections. Until 16 Aug 1998. (admission 40 CZK, discount admission 20 CZK).

19th and 20th Century French Art
Paul Gauguin from Collections of the National Gallery in Prague. Exhibition prepared in cooperation with the French Institute in Prague commemorates this year's 150th anniversary of Paul Gauguin's birth (1848 - 1903) and shows his paintings, sculptures and prints from the collections of the Center for Modern and Contemporary Art of the National gallery in Prague. Arnulf Rainer - Retrospective. Exhibition, organized in cooperation with the Austrian Institute in Prague, shows retrospective collection of paintings and drawings made by Austrian artist Arnulf Rainer (1929). The works come out from the postwar Surrealism and resound with the wild paintings of the 1980's. Until 30 Aug. (admission 50 CZK, discount admission 25 CZK)

Prague Castle - the residence of the Czech dukes and kings for eleven hundred years since the end of the 9th century - is today the seat of the president

Municipal House exhibition rooms:
Czech Art Deco 1918 - 1938. Representative exhibition recalls the art style which helps to create the atmosphere of Czechoslovakia between wars. Art Deco concentrates mainly on applied art, interior and architecture. Exhibition shows up to 650 art pieces: glass, porcelain, pottery, jewels, metal works, artificial jewelry, laces, fashion accessories, toys, living accessories, carpets, tapestry, furniture, posters and photographs. Cindy Sherman. Large retrospective of the American photographer Cindy Sherman (1954) was prepared by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles (MOCA) and Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago (MCA).
It shows her works from the half 1970's to recent time.

Okamoto. Okamoto is abstract painter, who lived in the USA in the 1950s and 1960s, where he met expressive abstraction and pop art. Now he lives in Japan and concentrates on spacious objects and huge installations. Until 13 July.
